Diggin Duran

In April, I had the opportunity to see Duran Duran twice in a 5 day period. It was exciting for me especially since I missed them last year during the reunion tour.

So, what is all the hype about?! Ok - The original 5 members are back. My first Duran concert was in 1986 with my best bud, Hocakes. We camped out for tickets at the Garden, NYC. Anyways, it was just John, Nick and Simon but it was great! I have been catching them as often as I could since then... the Beacon Theatre, Roseland Ballroom, Jones Beach, Radio City and the PNC Art Center (can't remember anymore venues). Mind you, at most of those concerts, I went with Hocakes!

Ah, so back to the original question? Oh, yeah - the original 5 are back. I can't tell the difference actually. I think that they have been good regardless of the line-up. I think they were more playful when Warren was there but that's me. I think that the concert was good. ACK! Just good. Let me tell you - I have alot of experience and that concert at Wachovia Wilkes
Barre was ok. They performed like a well oiled machine but it seemed too programmed. The coming out and standing at the end of the stage for a minute or so. Sure, the cheering was deafening but enough already! I wanna see some asses wiggling!

Now the Garden concert was somewhat different. Us NYers are very enthusiastic concert go-ers! The energy was SO high it was truly amazing. So now back to the programmed comment. They did basically the same show with a few song changes. If I have to hear Simon say, "Is anybody Hungry?" Grrr... The dialog between songs were somewhat the same except when they mentioned it had been 21 years since they played the Garden as the Fab Five. Outside of that complaint, I think that the show was awesome. Simon shaked that booty like a pro.

Does anyone know why he was playing with his pants? I forget what song but it was distracting. Oh, and the rest of the guys did their thing. No disappointments there!

I just wished that they did some Medazzaland and Pop Trash songs! I love that Electric Barbarella. I read where someone said that Andy butchered the guitar solo in Ordinary Day. I didn't notice. He did have the Keith Richards thing going on...

Now I am hoping to see them this summer! This time I plan to buy one of those 40 dollar tees and I will try not to throw something at Simon when he say, "Is anybody hungry?"
